I guess, was what everyone was doing at the time (or we can call it speculating, if that sounds more business like)- including Blix and Bush- you STILL can't say it was 20/20 hind sight because I said it before the war happened.

So what you're trying to tell us is that you GUESSED Saddam didn't have any WMDs, right?

No evidence.. No means of confirming it... And despite having had the UNSCOM inspectors effectively told to pack their bags when they discovered that Iraq had apparently mis-accounted by 6,000 the number of warheads they had expended against Iran in the 80's....

So you guessed??

Wow... so you took one side of a coin-toss and came out right... I'm impressed...

Maybe that's how we should conduct all future matters related to BINDING UNSC resolutions....

Just flip a coin and guess which course of action is correct..

Please correct me if I've misunderstood what you stated...

But I was sure hoping that you would have a bit more to back up the abuse you've been spewing towards me for merely wanting to discuss the facts....

Oh pardon me one second.. I have to take this phone call:

"Hello... Ms. Cleo?? Would you like to be our new Director of Central Intelligence? You will?? That's great!!
You come highly recommended!!!"
.
.
.
Sorry about that X.. Btw, have I mentioned that I wasn't surprised that you couldn't provide any evidence, or even a credible and confirmable argument as to why we should have believed Saddam didn't have a WMD stockpile?

And btw, did I also mention that WE DID FIND EVIDENCE that Saddam was continuing his R&D with regard to WMD technology??

All of that was in violation of the cease fire accord that permitted him, now much to our regret, to remain in power in 1991.

And btw, one more thing X...

The fact that you DRAGGED OUT this exchange, refusing to quote facts and documented evidence, and THEN criticize me for not accepting your 20/20 hindsight and "gut feelings" as credible, leads me to believe that you owe not only myself, but this entire thread, an apology..

You don't have to like me X.. I know that my posts are often a bit harsh, and often display contempt for people who have argued against this war..

But my contempt REALLY is for people who think that they HAVE NO OBLIGATION to logically, or factually, substantiate their beliefs.. People who feel absolutely no obligation to acknowledge reality...

And I have even more contempt for people who then criticize folks like myself WHO TAKE GREAT PAINS (and time) TO LOGICALLY AND FACTUALLY SUBSTANTIATE OUR VIEWS, as well as researching the issues....

You don't want a debate or a discussion X.. You want a monologue and a diatribe..

And that's been the problem with most of the liberals (I consider myself a moderate pragmatic) I've seen on these discussion boards. You feel that you have every right in the world to DEMAND that your views be taken seriously, yet you're so intellectually LAZY that you can't even logically defend them.

I'm personally fed up with such pseudo-intellectual intransigence..

And that's quite likely why there's not a chance in hell I could ever vote for Kerry, despite his experience...
Because he's all full of ideas, but with very few details as to how he's going to carry them out. Just like the rest of you...

So go around and litter these discussion threads with your pontification and self-righteous psychic foreign policy analysis...

But more importantly, he's full of nothing but criticism, without EVEN ONCE detailing how he would have done it differently (let alone how he's going to convince the international community to step up to their responsibilities). He's showing himself to be an intellectual clown and the crisis we currently face is far too serious to let it fall into the hands of someone who can't come up with VIABLE and CREDIBLE alternatives, and how he plans on carrying them out..

You have every right to practice your pseudo-intellectualism, but just don't expect any of the rest of, who take our discussions VERY SERIOUSLY, to give you an ounce of credibility...

It's a real shame too X.. Because you're obviously a well-spoken, and I believe a well-meaning, person.. But when you pull the kind of crap you pulled over the past two days with me, it makes you out to be nothing more than an intellectual buffoon..

You Guessed??!!! Hell... any one can GUESS!! Why don't we just rewrite all of our legal statutes on the basis of "judicial guess"... Just throw out the rules of evidence....LOL!!!!
