No, Israel is the one occupying Palestinian land. Therefore, the Palestinians are the ones who must "shake off" their oppressor. Both the 1987 Intifada and the 2000 Intifada began as campaigns of non-violent civil disobedience. Both times, Israel reacted with violence. You reap what you sow.

Israel announced its intention to use military force to conquer the Palestinian holy site. The Palestinians reacted by protesting. Israel reacted by shooting unarmed protesters.
