I was in a sailboat that was almost turned over time and again...

My cousin was thrown against some rocks, trying to come in, and a friend of her sons drowned...

I thought I was a gonner once when we were crossing the Catalina Channel in our boat. The swells were so huge, they made our 45'er seem like a drop. I was in the salon trying to anchor everything and looked out the window and all I could see was a wall of water. We were hit by swells over our flybridge. Up in the pilot house, Gary had all he could do to handle the wheel. I finally crawled to the bar, opened a bottle of Tanguray and drank it straight from the bottle. By the time we finally reached Alamitos Bay I was too drunk to care what happened. I will never cross that channel again when I see white caps out there.
