Nadine,

<<< We're supposed to go to the UN?>>>

It is clear we can't do this by ourselves.

It is also clear that we can't do this with the meager contributions (outside of Tony Blair) from our coalition allies.

It is also clear that victory as envisioned by the architects of this war is unlikely to happen without even a WAG (Wild Assed Guess) as to how much they think it will cost to pull this off - even if we could all agree on what kind of outcome that we would like to see (definition of victory).

I respect you and I respect your opinions. Could you please tell me how you would like things to unfold going forward.

For me, I would like for us to get out of Iraq as gracefully as possible - doing as little damage as possible.

We got rid of Saddam Hussein - Iraq, Israel, and the ROW is better off for it.

Our National interests will not be hurt whatsoever if we got out of the ME. Oil is fungible. If the ME wants to eat, they will have to sell oil. Leave it up to them.

We owe it to Israel to defend themselves. We can give them all the money and all the Military weapons they need to defend themselves. This will be a lot cheaper than if we were to maintain military activity in the ME.

We have to defend our borders against foreign threats - be they foregin countries or terrorists.

Chasing terrorists one by one around the globe is just too expensive and not feasble. It's like herding cats.

We have to guard against not only current terrorists but all terrorists (foreign, domestic, now, and forever into the future).

Our travel has to be secure (all mass transit) - using the latest and developing new technologies.

We are not going to be 100% safe from terrorists. Just as we are not going to be 100% safe from terrorist drivers who drive while intoxicated killing many, many innocent lives.

In other words, we should not go to extremes in fighting terrorist - in that either we have to use the means our enemies use or to curtail our own liberties.

Things may never be perfect. We may have to make trade offs.
