I think it's hard to compare bruises. On the surface, it looks like these these techniques were used to disorient, intimidate and humiliate...all psychological...Saddam was was ripping people apart. Your point about the use of subcontractors is interesting although it blows my mind that the generals are saying they didn't know about it...it had to have been military intelligence strategy.

My experience in the service was that the Koreans were the most effective in interrogations in Vietnam. The guys I worked with knew what was going on, but wanted the results.

I don't think it's another Vietnam - its different and worse. The only thing that's the same is that a lot of people have died on all sides and there will be more to come.
