Junior mining growth plays show value

Excerpt:

LONDON (Mineweb.com) -- Galore Creek has the potential to rapidly develop into a serious rival to Oyu Tolgoi. The British Columbia deposit, wholly owned by NovaGold [NG] already shows more in situ metal values than Ivanhoe’s [HUGO] famous Mongolian project and what it lacks in grade is made up for in infrastructure. All it needs to be a genuine contender with Oyu Tolgoi is to be brought closer to the feasibility stage and that is on an accelerated track.

Barrick Gold now controls the site of the waste rock disposal area and the tailings impoundment area for the Galore Creek project (they recently purchased Pioneer Metals, which owns the rights to adjacent Grace property, where Novagold must deposit their waste rock and tailings: no other sites exist with 50 miles in this mountainous area). If they do not win in the battle for Novagold, they can strangle Novagold's efforts to bring Galore Creek into production.
