Yes it uses a USB cable.
Here is the manuel for the box I ordered.

On page 11 it says something about using a USB connection instead of a Ether Card.
Am I correct in thinking I may be able to use the USB ports?

If it is connected to a USB jack he should buy two NIC cards then. VZ told me that they gave those USB connectors on the modem to people who have old computers and don't have NIC cards, but the NIC works much better.
