Dipy, the funny part is, we invade Iraq, kill or arrest their entire govt., knock off 1000s of civilians as normal casualties of war and all because they may have weapons that may have the potential to someday be used against us. Meanwhile, a Pakistani scientist supplies terrorists and nations who hate America with nuclear designs and materials, gets caught, says he's sorry, and he's still a hero in one of our few allies in the region.

A couple of canisters?

You state:
One, even if Iraq had chemical weapons (they probably had some canisters out there),

20 tons of chemicals is a lot more than a couple of canisters.

You continue with:
it had no way to deliver it to the US.; their Scuds could go no more than a few miles, if at all.

It also appears that Syria doesn't have the capability to make VX gas. So these terrorists simply dropped by the Iraqi stock piles and picked it up. So the REAL danger here is that these WMD's (you know...the WMD's that the left said Bush lied about) are falling in to the hands of terrorists. I wonder how these terrorists knew the precise location to find these WMD's? After all, the left has emphatically stated that Iraq has no connections with terrorists.

You close with:
if your argument is that somebody could have taken it out of Iraq and brought it into the US, that cannot be prevented by invading Iraq anyway.

I disagree. If rogue states continue to produce WMD's and then hand them off to stateless terrorists, it's only a matter of time before a large VX cloud is hanging over your head.

Most importantly...it appears that Bush did NOT lie about WMD's. :)

Diz-

Maybe you forgot about the gas attack in Tokyo and the many plots foiled elsewhere....It takes damn little imagination to figure out means to deliver chemical weapon strikes without the benefit of missiles.
