Last week I installed a wireless router connected to my ADSL modem. The reason was so that my daughter could access the internet on her own computer downstairs. It is quite a bit more expensive than a wired one, but I save on cables and drilling holes in floors etc.

I had to install another card into her computer which receives the signal from the router.

So far, so good, the signal is not degraded that I can detect, and she has high speed internet at no monthly cost.

You can share files between the two computers too with the router. BTW, what kind of a router did you buy - a wireless, or will you hard wire them? My friend has a wireless and she doesn't like it - the have trouble making an internet connection at times - she decided to hardwire both of them because it isn't worth the aggravation.
