WWII was an entirely different conflict.

But as a matter of fact, Republicans fiercely resisted our entrance into the war. It was Roosevelt and the Democrats who saw the need to help our historic allies. Even so, public resistance prevented our taking any active role until after Pearl Harbor.

So you seem to have your parties kinda mixed up.
