Mike, I'm glad we agree that the WOT is the most important
issue. I understand why you think the Bush Admin will
likely do the best job in that regard & I agree.

Your desire to "to expand the tent" & your concerns
that "If the base is not a lock yet, then we are in
serious trouble" are legitimate concerns. However, I'm not
inclined to expand the tent by appeasing corrupt
governments & the UN to get there as the Kerry camp seems
to wish to do.

I feel that the Oil-for-Food scandal needs to hold open,
transparent investigations that sheds light on all the
corruption. Then let the chips fall where they may. If
the UN, France, etc., wishes to continue to oppose the US
in the WOT, so be it. We will just have to fight the WOT
with whom ever is willing to join the Coalition of the
willing.

Since 9/11, their actions have caused serious harm in the
WOT. It is our troops that are fighting & dying while
corrupt politicians have lined their pockets & openly
opposed us at every turn. This scandal needs to be exposed
& we must insist on serious, meaningful changes to the UN
so that it has a real chance to fulfill its charter. That
is more important to me than attempting to win over some
swing votes for the election.

Sure, going this route might piss off a whole lot of
people. And with the liberal media spinning everything
against the Bush Admin, Kerry could win the election.
However, without serious change in the UN, the WOT is
going to be longer & bloodier than it would if we let them
off for the sake of partisan politics.

The WOT is going to continue regardless of who sits in the
White House. The terrorists aren't going to go away if
Kerry wins or if the UN, France, etc., gets a free pass
once again.

I'd much rather have Bush force them all to come clean &
lose the election than to attempt appeasement in return
for faux UN support & a continuation of the status quo.

Our troops & countless innocent civilians will be the ones
paying the ultimate price if we do.

I'm just not partisan enough to pretend that this isn't a
real possibility.

FWIW, I feel the prison abuse scandal should also be
handled the same way that I want the the Oil-for-Food
scandal prosecuted.
