Well, dang. I thought it was women who couldn't compartmentalize. This thread is so obviously for books and words and kids and mushie stuff and so NOT political or personal. I am sorry. I am reading another Bill Bryson-- In a Sunburned Country. I have never been to Australia but Dan loved it, and we have some nice friends who keep urging us to visit. (Sure- let's run over there next weekend). On our list of neat places to live, it sounds kind of attractive. Also reading (don't laugh) a Timeline of History. I thought it might give me some sort of overview. So far it seems that what man does mostly is go to war over land and then everyone piles on. Also finishing Reading Lolita in Tehran and starting a Leslie Glass mystery just for fun. I would have lost on dioptric. I would have guessed "double vision".
