No sooner had this ludicrous assertion escaped Dayton's lips... he challenged Rumsfeld and Myers to explain why they felt it was necessary to send tanks and troops into a war zone:

You're increasing the number of forces, the number of tanks over there. How can this have anything to do but to escalate the level of violence, the opposition of Iraqis, intensify the hatred across the Arab world to the United States, and more atrocities? How can this have any result other than to put us deeper into this situation and make the conditions there worse for our forces and for our nation and for the world?

>>Haven't we heard, over and over from the opposition, that Rumsfeld hasn't committed enough troops and materiel to Iraq?<<

This is becoming ridiculous. It is a "classic" search for the guilty and punish the innocent exercise.

We have a war...a very real war going on. A war that is quite undecided at this point, and likely to expand dynamically according to many very talented experts. This is about the very survival of America not a bj in the oval office.

Mea Culpa is important when appropriate. So is getting down to business. We need the individuals comprising the US Congress to analyze their personal political motives and possible culpability and liability in this mess. Let's discuss what they have failed to do? Let's let US Servicemen question them about their behavior and actions to win or lose this war.

Let's have each member of the Armed Forces Committees explain why they are not personally responsible...why they should not resign. The question was asked repeatedly today...where does the buck stop? What could possibly be more confusing to our forces than the statement, I voted to support the troops before I voted against them.

America needs to get off the pitty pot and get back to the business of eliminating those who vow to kill all Jews, kill all Christians and kill all Americans. Our survival depends on it. Many members of the US Congress needs to do more to support the effort and less to undermine it.

Remember CNN's Eason Jordan said last year that HE directed CNN News NOT to tell the whole story about what Saddam and sons were doing in Iraq ....for 11 years CNN was quiet!!!!!

He said 'he wanted to not cause harm to the Iraq news service staff....'

General Richard Meyers calls to ask CBS to HOLD for 2 weeks or so the pictures, as we had serious problems in Fallujah and he was VERY concerned about the safety of our troops ....

Not only did CBS NOT hold the pictures any longer, but then Sen Mark Dayton -MN- kept using the VERY offensive word "suppress" the news....

Dayton wanted to talk over and through both Rumsfeld and Meyers. He was definitely on a political agenda, not a fact finding agenda.

Minnesota citizens should be ashamed they have such a nincompoop jerk for a Senator.
