48% Say Iraqi Prison Abuse Isolated Event
29% Believe Abuse is Fairly Widespread

"The survey also found that 62% of Americans believe that Iraqis today are better off than they were when Saddam Hussein was in charge."

Hey, I say let's just pull out of Iraq. Let's just let the leftists lose this one for us as they lost Vietnam. Let the killing fields begin.

I wonder how the Japanese could show their faces even today in China. They still believe they did nothing that unusual, at least nothing they will officially admit to.

Let's be honest. Some of the charges will be true and some not. Also, this is not the end of it. There will be charges even after we leave...and some will be true and some not. We, at least attempt to keep it in check, this abysmal human behavior, whereas others are not so circumspect nor is their society open enough for things like this to surface in a timely manner and be dealt with. What is the policy here, one incident and we have to leave. That would translate into domestic policies of very small prison populations. We would be lucky to spend most of our energy dealing with the positive aspects of rebuilding and aiding Iraq but unfortunately there will always be some negatives and detractors.

I hope they tear the prison down and do the best they can to release prisoners that don't seem to have done more than be in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's a symbol that could have much meaning. The risk is to let someone go that later turns around to bite you and embarrass you for your "laxity" and errors in judgement.

Worried about the propaganda effect of a Rumsfeld resignation, Graham said that although Rumsfeld “failed us,” it would risk sending the wrong signal to the enemy and “empower them” if he were forced to quit.
