Its about not paying royalties to other countries. If you have the critical mass, given the market size, China does, they invest in the own flavor of anything to avoid paying royalties.

If China has the engineering talent at the righ price it works. What cannot work -and has never worked anywhere else- is that the research centers act like universities -are not market oriented- and do not produce technology fast and cheaper enoough.

China should study imports substitution policies of LATAM to avoid the pitfalls. If you protect the local guys, they grow up like animals fo Galapagos.

If any predator appear one day they are finished in one year.

Local companies screw local consumers with high prices, outdated technology, shoddy products and services. Lack of competition is bad!!

If they do the right thing, they end up selling cheap cheap since the amortized everything already by selling in the local market.
