The article you posted - it says the mideast is a tough area and perhaps the US should be "even handed."

There have been varying degrees of support, but if the point is that all administrations have supported the existence of a strong Israel, irrespective of other beliefs or parties, then I agree.

But it's not politics. The Jews are an insignificant part of the electorate. Certainly, many of our leaders have exhibited anti-Semitic biases at least in their private talk.

It's morality and the fact that the US identifies as a people with the relative democracy and also for the need for a tiny Jewish homeland. The waste of effort and the hatred from posters such as yourself, who often defend suicide murderers who target civilians with only minimal chance of hitting a military target is another compelling argument for the existence of a strong Israel.

Fuirthermore, Israel can't negotiate with itself. Arafat has refused to let his PM's negotiate. They leave office in fear of their life for even suggesting negotiations. The PLO has yet to change its charter to recognize Israel's right to exist despite assurances and promises. Arafat has refused to stop terrorists and is actively involved with them.

Hamass runs freely and will likely be part of a future Palestinian government. Do you think the US would negotiate with OBL? Yet, the US pressures Israel and prevents Israel from going further, even as far as the US has gone in Iraq.

To make a long story short, the article you posted is more BS.
