How many new jobs really?

Greetings Jay,

You'll enjoy this -

How many of the 288,000 rise in payrolls from last week's (April's) report came from a statistical extrapolation of the birth/death model (also known as the plug factor) rather than a tangible increase in the job head count?

270,000 of 288,000.

Message 20107499

LOL!

Best, Ben

Hi Jay,

I am hundreds of posts behind. So much opportunity, so little time.

As I read your post I thought to myself, 'Now there's someone who really knows how to enjoy life'. So many people are unhappy with their lot in life even amidst a better quality in life.

I had tea on the deck and watched two falcons over the wetlands behind us fight over a mouse in a aerial dogfight reminiscent of Top Gun. Life imitates art. Art imitates nature.

This year the tent caterpillars are out in great numbers, my wife and I are losing the battle. They have a voracious appetite for everything organic in sight. I console her with the knowledge that this year's cicada, on a 17yr cycle, infestation in the East will mean that in Indiana the density will reach 3.5m per hectare. In nature this is called predator satiation. There are so many cicadas some will survive to lay eggs for the next cycle.

Predator satiation is what the US is about to do with the dollar. Life imitates nature indeed.

I remembered one more thing about John Bollinger on CNBC today. He said he thought the current cycle would last 3-4 mos, which, I believe, is your prediction for the cyclical bear market in gold.
