I hope this isn't a double post...

Maybe we should make a clear difference between conservatives and neo-conservatives.
With most conservatives, I experience a dialogue based on the idea of "finding the truth".

I've had trouble figuring out anymore what a conservative is, let alone a neoconservative. If I were to list out all the positions that this Administration has taken and compare them against an ideological list of what a conservative [or neoconservative] believes, it's tough to make a conclusion about whether this is Administration is ideological conservative or neoconservative.

Under what ideology do I put:
1. Increasing farm subsidies by 65%
2. Placing tariffs on steel and lumber
3. Running up massive government debt
4. Nation building
5. The temporary worker program
6. Initiating a new entitlement program. Medicare Prescription coverage
7. Infringing on States Rights, e.g., doctor assisted suicide.
8. No child left behind.
9. Support of the assault weapons renewal.

and many more. None of these would fall into a category of conservative or neoconservative ideology.

I could point to some ideological consistencies ... Supporting restrictive stem cell research, anti-abortion, and no doubt more. But given the number on non conservative policies ... I hesitate to refer to the Administration as conservative or neoconservative as you indicate. I would rather say that they are elitists; they de-emphasize the "democracy" in democratic republic.

Returning to your point on "finding the truth". I would agree. The truth is not important, these elitists know best and truth is expendable. The end justifies the means.
