I know quite a few Iraquis who hated Saddam but who feel that Baghdad was a much safer place under his regime. It's a question of the "devil you know" versus the failure of the US to restore public safety.

The early goodwill towards the US occupiers is deteriorating at a rapidly accelerating rate, and the lack of law and order is not helping it.

The recent shameful and disgusting revelations and photographs of the prisoners have outraged even the most ardent Iraqui supporters of the US policies. That said, my Iraqi friends feel that not enough is being done to publicize the fact that it was a US serviceman who exposed the crimes.

Not looking back. I said going to Iraq was a mistake before we ever went to Iraq. Was a blatant scam from day one.

It's really easy to look back and pretend to be an expert. I hope you feel better.
