Your idea of a special character is a good one but then it should be there all the time, irrespective of the length of the post. What happens is that SI accepts my post if it is short enough. If I add one character more than the critical length, which actually can vary by about 10 characters at different times), the whole post is rejected and I get an error message to try again.
