Don > I'm not sure I follow your connection between the apparent false flag aspects of the 9/11 hijackers, and torturing POWs

I contend that the "civilian contractors" could, in fact, be MOSSAD or Israeli agents.

You asked, "Who would have a motive to impersonate international Arab terrorists?"

I ask, "Who would have a motive to involve themselves, as 'civilians', with torturing and other atrocities in an Iraqi jail?" And further, "Why are these 'civilians' given authority to direct proceedings?"

In answer, you suggest a possible collusion between Bush and Sharon. So do I.

I'm not debating why torturing took place, for whatever reason, but who these important 'civilians' were and why they were given authority over US soldiers --- and in the presence of American officers?

I do not see Iraq as an "emotional side-show" from 9-11, as you apparently do, but one of the prime reasons for it and, indeed, an extension of the crime. Therefore I would expect to find the same parties involved in Iraq as in 9-11.

Don > England should have gotten a ribbon, at least if performing the duties assigned by one's commanders is any gauge of merit.

I agree with you. She did exactly what she was ordered to do by her superiors. But now she's expected to know about the Geneva convention and is personally blamed for what she did even though she was instructed to do it.

I don't know if you are aware of the now-famous experiments done by Stanley Milgram at Yale in the 1960s in which he showed that the most heinous atrocities can be performed by "good" people who are simply following the orders of a "superior".

Although Milgram undertook the experiments to show how "ordinary" Germans could carry out the crimes of the Holocaust, his findings are as pertinent in the present context as they were half a century ago. And that, in fact, was his message.
