You don't fart around with this guy! Thomas Hamill: "President Bush has made me proud to be an American." By Matt Margolis on Blogs For Bush Thomas Hamill, who escaped capture in Iraq, has given his first interview since returning to the United States on FoxNews with Rita Cosby. foxnews.com Cosby asked Hamill questions about the ordeal, from the ambush, to the horrors of being held captive. Towards the end, she asked him if he’d return to Iraq: HAMILL: Yes, I would go back. I don’t have a problem. You know what it’s like. There’s nothing that’s being hidden. I’ve got to make a little peace with my wife and my kids over this. I don’t want any problems with them in the future; I don’t want my kids worrying about this. It was different when I went over there. They really weren’t worried. But since this has happened, I don’t want to affect their lives. COSBY: What would you like to say to President Bush? Do you think you’ll get a chance to meet him? HAMILL: That was the main reason I went over there. President Bush has made me proud to be an American. We’re making a stand and we’re doing the right thing. COSBY: What do you want to say to all the other folks? Of course, you know there’s a few others still being held there. HAMILL: I’m praying for the families … The ones that are going over, these soldiers, if there any hostages in the future that they can resist and they can pray and they can come home like I did. He has quite a story, and his sense of duty is remarkable. You need to read the entire transcript in order to better understand what he went through. After all that, he still believes they’re doing the right thing and is proud of the work they’re doing.
