I live in downtown Ottawa and have been renting for the past year and half since I moved to Ottawa. My rent came down 15% in February and everyone else I know who is renting has had rents come down 10-20%. As for renting versus buying, I can rent my apartment for C$1000 a month while buying the equivalent condo would cost me C$1500 in monthly payments including condo fees. Not much of a decision really right now...

Well, yes my remarks refer to personal business perspectives.
I still stand with my belief that the down town Vancouver area will suffer little. Rents to date where I am have gone up since last year.
I'd elaborate further but its bed time.
In any event we will all find out soon enough.
For me I'm not worried as I ain't lookin to sell any time soon anyway.

regards
