The Haifa pipeline was the topic of several articles in the international press. The original pipeline, now irremediable due to age and sabotage, was 8" in diameter. The pipeline that was proposed last year is to be 42" in diameter. No mere revival of the existing line, but one that would be big enough to supply not only Israel's entire energy needs, but also allow for a large oil port to be developed at Haifa for the export of Iraqi crude.
