MulhollandDrive--<<i was amazed when my home page was redirected to msn.com at the time, and remember thinking microsoft is hijacking home pages????? apparently so>>

Not the first time. A couple of times a few years ago I downloaded a more advanced version of Internet Explorer. Both times I had my home page changed to Microsoft. I had to locate my old home page via search engine, get in the browser, and then reset it. I was furious, particularly after the new browser changed the internal location for setting one's home page. I quit 'upgrading' my browser after that. Now I use Netscape Navigator.

Hi there MD,

I don't use MSN so I've not had any redirects from their site, but....

....awhile back while running Ad-aware, I'd get "a possible hi-jack attempt" because I was using about:blank as my home page, too.

When I let Ad-aware erase the file, then my home page was re-set to MSN.

So, I just added the "hi-jack attempt" to the ignore list.

No, problems since.

Also, if a dialog box or browser window doesn't have an "X" to close it....try using Alt-F4. It may work.
