You see, you and I disagree on the basic premise of the Terrorists. You seem to feel they are capable of REASON, whereas I feel they are nothing better then WILD DOGS that must be tracked down and killed as quickly and of course as humanely as possible. The slit the throat of that journalist who was if anything their friend, they've drawn and quartered our people and you think FOR ONE MINUTE they would be NICE if we pampered them in prison. I am opposed to the treatment SOLELY because its not the AMERICAN WAY and we do have an image to protect, but the fact we had to do some pretty disgusting things to get needed information to save lives of not only our own troops but innocent women and children bothers me NOT ONE BIT. jdn Really, do calm down. Discourse doesn't work infused with too much emotion. 1. Calling Iraqi prisoners "terrorists" is a misnomer that has the especial disadvantage of short-circuiting the ability to think. The word is used by invading powers to demonize those who resist a foreign occupation. The Nazis called members of the French resistance "terrorists." Iraq is the Iraqis' country, not ours. They don't like to be occupied by foreigners with guns who break down their doors, terrify families, humiliate husbands, and break their belongings. You wouldn't like it either. ....Oops, I have to go. I'll finish later. Sorry.

Ask the Israelis if they believe that their enemies are 'incapable of thinking', unable to mount terrorist attacks, bombings, etc.... How many 'wild dogs' would think to blow up a nuclear reactor, or petrochemical plant?

Keep in mind that of the 43,000 detainees in Iraq so far, 31,000 have been released without charges ever being filed against them, according to Rumsfeld. Many of those detained were picked up in "sweeps," not for any activity in which they engaged; others were picked up when their names were provided under torture, and no evidence against them was discovered. Sixty per cent (60%) of the prisoners in Abu Ghraib were deemed to be no threat, and, according to Karpinski herself, should have been released. I wonder how you feel about that 70 year old Iraqi woman being harnessed and ridden like a donkey. How about forcing Muslim men to masturbate toward the mouths of other prisoners as photographs were taken of them? How about sodomizing prisoners? How about actually murdering them? Does any of it bother you even "ONE BIT"?
