MCI says it will cut 7,500 jobs in second quarter
Monday May 10, 4:29 pm ET

WASHINGTON, May 10 (Reuters) - MCI Inc. (Other OTC:MCIA.PK - News) said on Monday it was planning to cut 7,500 jobs in the second quarter as it tries to return to profitability in the second half of 2004.
The No. 2 U.S. long-distance telephone company has already announced about 5,700 job cuts this year, many from the closing of three call centers. It was not immediately clear whether the 7,500 figure included those cuts.
