"Things could be better, and Bush has made poor use of the bully pulpit. But neither is Iraq up in flames, there is no general insurgency, most the Iraqis want to have a modern state, non Ba'athist and non clerical. We owe it to them as well as ourselves to help them get it. "

My point exactly. So lets get a new team in there with some new ideas. Send more troops if necessary. Regionalize things letting the kurds and shiaa start determining their future in their own way. Bring in the UN and France if they have the courage to come. But not same old, same old which will turn "550 dead in one year into 10 years and 50k dead."
I agree with you, C2, Mr. Bill but we need new leadership, new ideas and we need to rid ourselves of folks that hsve soured both moderate american and iraqi opinion at the same time if you can believe that.
Rummy and Wolfy are only men. The cause is more important and perhaps this will be the last chance we get to save the bush presidency and an effective interventionist fp. mike
