If you are familiar with histories of Orson Welles and Terry Gilliam, you should understand that no film maker takes on the Studio that funds his projects expecting to win in the long term. Moore might desire controversy concerning the content of his film, but not about the distribution or business end. Very few who are actually in the business would applaud his comments as a publicity strategy. I believe Moore is being honest when he states "Let me tell you something: NO filmmaker wants to go through this kind of controversy. It does NOT sell tickets (I can cite many examples of movies who have had to change distributors at the last minute and all have failed)."
