I understand exactly what you are saying. Australia has received many wealthy immigrants from Hong Kong as well as Singapore.

The fact remains that the profile of the typical immigrant to America has fewer assets and fewer skills than immigrants to Australia, simply due to entry requirements.

Immigration to Australia is a much higher percentage of the existing population than in America.

Yet, home prices are declining in Australia - in spite of experiencing a larger percentage population increase from immigration and those profile of those immigrants are wealthier with higher earnings.

In spite of the supposedly large wave of immigration to America, residential rents continue to decline nationwide.
