i downloaded and ran the program from trendmicro. it said there were no viruses in any files. so the damage must already be done and possibly adding up.

i'm thinking about getting jv16 powertool. it has a highly rated registry repair tool. another one is system mechanic although i don't really trust that one too much. actually i don't trust any of them.

any other idea? does windows 2000 have a system restore?
