I believe that most of the US caught the cultlike, mob psychology right after 911 and the resultant hysteria that followed. Most of us recovered from the shock and understood the situation. Others have decided to capitalize on the hysteria and fear for their own personal profit.

I think it's a very simple thing to turn a bunch of average people into a mob. Most people can't or won't think for themselves and would probably do just fine in a totalitarian system like Saddam's.

Sad but true IMO.

Mass psychosis can hit an entire political party or cult like in Germany in the 30's and 40's or David Koresh types. Maybe some Bushies have caught the virus too.

A minor psychosis affects most people. The ability to conduct an honest self-examination. Our own country, political affiliation, religion, family, and self are all subjects that deserve a self-examination. It's easier to do with country and gets more difficult as you get closer to self, with the most difficult being self.

Charles Manson, as insane as he is, said ~"There's something of me in every one of you." It may send a chill down your spine but he's right and it can only be controlled through self-examination.

Bushies have no ability to self-examine at any level.
