My son inherited some mechanical talent, but definitely not from me. He installed all those aftermarket parts himself and the only trouble he had was he made the fit of the DVD player against the ceiling fabric so tight that the DVDs wouldn't eject from the DVD player.

Me, I'm too objective oriented. I want it completely done and I don't enjoy the process of getting it that way. That's a propensity that doesn't make for being a good mechanic.

Good luck with your Scout. I drove one back in the 60s on the job but have never had one.

I talked a minute with the old guy who was rebuilding the old Broncho. Bought it in '87 as a retirement project, was fixing it up and was 3/4 done when he figured he might as well do it right. Stripped it down and did a frame up rebuild. Sand blasted down to bare metal and switched to fiberglass front quarter panels. No Bondo, if it was rusted new metal was welded in. Tires to top everything is like new.

Another guy from the coffee shop bought a 67 'Vette convertible that had been parked in a barn for over 20 years. He may take 2 years but it will be newer than when it came off the assembly line.
