Del, this photon>exciton multiplier effect is being achieved with higher energy blue-green light exposure on PbSe nanocrystals. What I've read about this photon>exciton multiplier effect doesn't give a number for efficiency increases, just that it is 'greatly improved' and the heat from the 1st photon absorption/electron-hole formation is somehow captured/directed to generate another electron-hole formation in a certain percentage of cases.

ECD is working on nanoscale but not with these elements and, as we know so well, focussing on disordered and quasi-disordered silicon so I would be pleasantly surprised if our stuff could benefit from the 'multiplier' effect the
Los Alamos researchers are reporting from PbSe nanocrystals.
