i'll try it tonight when i'm done on the internet. i've been trying to find the best repair program out there and so far it seems that Ace Utilities (the one you first recommended) seems to have the others (including jv16) beat. but i'd like to ask you one more time incase you know of another good repair program. if you can think of another, i'll research it on my own and make a decision. sometimes there is an obscure freeware program out there that does one thing extremely well. any suggestions from anyone will be much appreciated. and thanks again TC for all your help. -gru
