I know, it seems a dumb thing to say but it needs describing in its details ('granular' is the buzz word these days) until finally it's clear what really needs doing. Tribal relations Saudi family relations whose fealty is forced and whose is voluntary, and to whom. The Wahabbis. The family, the clergy. Commercial relations in the country. Security. Holy sites and how pleased or not pleased the rest of the Muslim world is with Saudi oversight. Its islamofascist terrorist connections. Oil biz there. Demographic pressures The country's relations with its neighbours. etc At some point it will become clear how to work the situation. I know this much. At one time we needed their oil more than they needed our money. Now they need our money as much as we need their oil. It ain't much but it's a start.
