So, you want to destroy Islam? Quite a project. You may not have noticed but at the moment our military is losing a war against a backward country the size of California.

What are there, 10,000, 50,000, 100,000 Al Qaeda operatives on the entire planet? To defeat terrorists you have to understand them. The beheading in and of itself wasn't a significant or unique event, 700 of our troops have been killed in Iraq. It's the terror that it caused that makes it important. Eight Al Qaeda and a video camera can cause more political change than an army of 100,000 soldiers.

You are not going to fight them by sending armies to where they are not. You can fight them by beefing up intelligence services and police departments. By increasing worldwide cooperation, something that would have been easy to accomplish after 9/11. To use your cockroach analogy, they are hidden everywhere in the house. You can blow up the house, but they will just move next door. Or you can seek them out and kill them one by one. You will never get them all, live with it. It's not as sexy as shock and awe, but it's worked in the past and it can work again.

Amen!

I don't understand why what you're saying is so hard for some to comprehend. Whatever happened to "if its not working, try something else". Iraq is not working period.

John,
I appreciate your time. I think we see the same problems but we assign different weights to the issues resulting in different solutions.

We'll disagree on the terrorist's performance the last 30 years.
