FALSE FLAG OPERATIONS

Suma,

When considering "painting them...those guys, he terrorists as really bad while we are just more civilized in that we don't cut off heads." it is also good to do a cui bono? analysis.

The most likely beneficaries of a taped beheading would certainly not be the perpetrators of the act, but would be the U.S. military and the White House who now have a convenient (perhaps too convenient) way to change the conversation from the media coverage of Abu Ghraib and other episodes of U.S. torture.

I've just posted this on "false flag" operations:
Message 20120284

When looking at the media reports on the purported beheading of Mr. Berg, consider that the Mighty Wurlitzer(1) has total control of the media, and the original video seems to be no longer accessible. Clearly, this is a red flag on the veracity of what we are being told.

This is the dilemma that faces the military today. We have to make the enemy bad and badder.... and the cutting off of the head of that worker does help our cause in painting them...those guys, he terrorists as really bad while we are just more civilized in that we don't cut off heads.

You're correct. Though the Press doesn't cooperate like they did in WWII. I don't recall seeing any WWII newspapers [archives, I'm not that old] that dealt with the human side of the story. There wasn't a single German or Japanese that was any good. It allowed the Allies to firebomb Berlin, Dresden, Tokyo, etc... without a flinch from the public.

The beheading certainly offends our sense of civilized. OTH, if you're able to separate yourself from that emotion [not easy], it's not less civilized than beating someone to death and beheading is relatively quick. You could argue that beheading is a more compassionate way of killing someone than some other ways available. From the film, it seems that Berg had absolutely no idea what was about to happen. I'm glad that he didn't.
