but... but... but...

Message 20120183

You are so self- righteous, you will not even entertain the idea that those responsible were the normal, decent human beings they appeared to be, and that they were acting in good faith.........

self-righteous? -ME ? LOL!

did you read what you just wrote, or you just write it as it comes off your mind without ... consideration of the words and their meaning?

excuse me... but how can you possibly consider someone who drops a nuclear weapon on *NOT ONE* but TWO cities can possibly be a "normal, decent human beings"

I am not talking about the pilots who flew the airplane and physically dropped it... they were soldiers following orders. I am talking about those in the high command, (which, although we could possibly say that it was Harry Truman, since ultimately, he was the responsible person upon who the decision rested)

But we cannot really say that.... in spite of his famous quote... "The buck stops here"

why?

Because Harry Truman only learned of the bomb a few months before the actual event. A man that became president due to the death of his predecessor... what kind of mind frame did he have arriving at a position in somehow an indirect way... were there advisors in front of him? was he privy to lots and lots of information that only the president had?

Because the start of the development of the bomb was way back in December of 1942 with participation of several scientists (who learned of the true capabilities of the device, yet they had little imput -if any- in the actual decision.) Harry Truman knew nothing of this.

Because there were others (such as Secretary of War Henry Stimpson -considered to be the main 'advisor' urging Truman to use the bomb. These people were not scientists and I doubt that they knew of the REAL consequences, or the REAL capabilities of such a device...

Because these people -that you consider "normal decent and acting in good faith" are true monsters... never mind that they happened to be "Americans" I do not care if they were from Atlantis, Utopialand, or Lalaland... the point is they were (and their modern counterparts ARE) real barbarians who are ready to LIE -regardless of the consequences-

These people HID from an advisory panel made up of scientsts the FACT that Japan was ready to surrender.

The real moment of decision came when Japan (unlike Germany) was not willing to sign an "unconditional" surrender agreement.

Remove the word "Unconditional" and it was a done deal...

And there were enough parties making bogus arguments about "imagianary invasions" presenting bogus claims of casualties....

NOT UNLIKE PRESENT DAY LIES ABOUT WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ

mind.net

I suppose that "appeared" is a good definition, as they were really not so.

and... acting in good faith?

once again, I am trying to contain myself here... but even giving you all the 'benefit of all the doubt you can possible create...'

either you really think I am a complete idiot, or you are a complete idiot.

and please pay attention to this:

Anyone who considers the use of a nuclear weapon is no less than an imbecile, for the simple FACT that the remains/residues etc. etc. of said weapons may (if not WILL) come back at you.

NEVER MIND what other considerations you could possibly consider as for the "possible surrender" or any other alternative...

it is the 'mind-set' to be willing to commit an act of complete lunacy with consequences to CIVILIANS that is the dangerous part in such a decision and that alone qualifies the individual as anything BUT "normal, decent, and with good faith"

Did you know that 48% of the casualties in WWII were civilians? that is... 29 million civilians perished, against 31 million soldiers....

Did you know that in the Franck Report, a petition made by seven scientist to blast ONE bomb in an uninhabitated area as a demonstration inviting members of different countries to see the capabilities of the device was flat out ignored?

How can you possibly make an argument that those who made such a decision could be considered... "normal, decent human beings acting in good faith" ?

you are laughable

Next you are going to tell me that "we are lucky that the nuclear weapons of the time were not as powerful as they are today"

Actually... now that you mention it... all this has nothing to do with being self-righteous... it has to do with pure, simple COMMON SENSE, which CLEARLY it is not so "COMMON"

Furthermore... your comment above is what discounts you in your pretending to be 'civil & rational'

So... I loved your previous post addressed to me because it meant it would have been the end of it... Yet contrary to what you stated, you continue on with your [irrational & savage] commentary... you remind me of the Monty Python "Black Knight".... you are limbless, a frail mind... yet you come for more... what an idiot. (excuse me for insulting you, but I find no other description for your arguments)

The reality is that people like you are really frightening, as you are capable to present an argument inside your mind to convince you of incredibly stupid acts and still... consider yourself civil, rational and normal...

and so with that...

I let you be, as I said, all you need to do is repeat it enough times so you can believe it, have at it and feel cozy with your leaders willing to consider the use of nuclear devices, (and feeling cozy and fuzzy-warm with it at the same time).

.. a very neocon thing to do.

and please remember what you yourself said...
