The kid was obviously naive to travel to Iraq in search of freelance telecommunications work. I mean, you don't go prancing around a war zone looking for work, unless you're prepared for trouble (like with bodygaurds and stuff). My heart goes out to his parents and family, they obviously cared about him a great deal and even sued the federal government for his release. A sad side-note to this whole sad affair in Iraq. RIP Nick Berg.

Re: Something doesn't add up about this one.

Another Dr. David Kelly type myth spun by the powers-that-be?

Sure looks that way from here.

Re: One day later his throat was cut by "terrorists". What a most convenient distraction from the torture pics from Abu Ghraib.

Indeed... a timely distraction from the 1,200 snuff movies and pictures that were watched by US Congressmen --and then classified.

The gory murder of Nick Berg could have been staged like that of Daniel Pearl in Pakistan: remember that first we were also told that Pearl got beheaded, only to be told later that he was actually shot dead...

The most troubling clue I got from all this is that it somehow portends an escalation in the tit-for-tat between the US military and Iraqi freedom fighters... As more and more atrocities and collateral bloodsheds will likely be perpetrated by US troops, the US administration --spurred by the coming prez election-- will need ever more "barbaric atrocities" by "Iraqi terrorists" to counter and cancel out its own war crimes... And if the bloody crescendo lurches out of control... we might be in for a SECOND 911 on the eve of election day.
