I don't know the terms of the leases, but I think the following is obvious: 1) grab as much as you can when George & friends are in power. 2) it all looks good on the balance sheet regardless of whether anything is ever found there (even if just lease of mineral rights) 3) it is much easier to overstate reserves in the earlier stages of the process than in the later stages of the process 4) Building net worth is HARD, relatively speaking this is EASY! The ANTICIPATION of a bright future is more sexy than tangible net worth to many people. Namaste! Jim
