With all the current hammering on Bush it's very telling why Kerry's lead in most polls is very small...

That is precisely why Kerry cannot pull away from Bush, despite problems that would have taken out a lesser man like Kerry himself). Now Bush needs to deal with these relatively petty public relations issues. Once that is done, and in the home stretch you start seeing images of (*cueing "America, the Beautiful*) brown-skinned Iraqi children, smiling as they go to school, as they drink clean water and eat warm meals, Bush will pull away like a champ. That is the hope. The great thing is, because it will not have come cheaply, Americans will have even greater confidence that "Bush can pull us through anything."
