Today the market had an intra-day failure to the upside and finished with a small loss from yesterdays close with a reduced spread on lower volume. It ended the day in a neutral condition. Today's action was a result of the withdrawal of demand during the morning while pressure to the downside continued to weaken. As a result, the action for the day was inconclusive.

It was expected that the spring action from yesterday would have provided, at a minimum, some further upside progress. The withdrawal of demand and the failure of supply to enter the market offsets the weak response of the spring at this moment. The character of the action in the coming days will indicate if a spring is going to take place and if not, the likelihood of supply re-entering the market and a fall through the ice is more likely.
