What is different is that he's looking for differences and I'm looking for commonality. IMO, of course. Media bias has become a hobby of mine. I differ from most in that I don't look upon it as a "conspiracy," but as a common meeting of minds by the media, which is 80% or better Liberal. Most media people think of their position as MOR, especially if they are Liberals in the media, where everybody they work with thinks like them. The old gag, "I don't know how Nixon got elected, nobody I know voted for him!" is too true. The series of articles in the "Washington Times" that I posted the other day had a quote from Bush that sums it up. The president prides himself on his ability to detect bias in ostensibly objective news stories. "My antennae are finely attuned," he said. "I can figure out what so-called 'news' pieces are going to be full of opinion, as opposed to news. So I'm keenly aware of what's in the papers, kind of the issue du jour. But I'm also aware of the facts."

I am still amazed at what can be done if people are willing. They are never as far apart as they think they are, kholt you are on to something imo. Israelis and Palestinians excepted, of course. Partisans work in the opposite direction, making the gap wider and deeper and harder, a fight to the death. The divisions may be shallow or they may be broader than everyone thinks. This may have to be settled by an all out brawl in the gutter. That does not mean it has to take a long time. If all outsiders withdrew their financial support, this dispute would find a conclusion rapidly.
