With Outlook, ~ 3.5 Gig is the limit. I got that high with saved mail in one file and it started acting wacky. I started a new save file & moved about a gig into it and things were fine, I could access both save files.

I have no idea what the limit is for OE, but it is probably the same order of magnitude.
