a lot of people have decided after Nick Berg's execution that what's needed is to turn the Middle East into a gigantic glass parking lot. Not me. I reached the bottom of my despair and bounced back in the eternal hope that we'll get past all of this madness somehow.

If so, we're looking at a Darwin Award candidate. Those who aren't prepared to take the heat should stay the hell out of the kitchen. I wonder how many headstones we'll have to carve that on before people start to listen. Al Qaeda is mad at well-armed American military, so they kill a defenseless American Jew. Why not? The jooooos are responsible for all that's evil in the world, no? Just their way of upping the ante. Would you expect them to challenge us to a quick-draw showdown at high noon on main street? I've asked this question before, and I'll ask it again: are we draining this swamp or are we sinking into it?
