The rightwing keeps repeating it as they attempt to dominate more and more and more using propaganda techniques, disinformation and myths to deceive and cover up. The mainstream press gave Bush a free ride for most of his first 2-3 years, savaged Bill CLinton during Whitewater (an obvious partisan witchhunt which went WAY too far), gave Bush more positive stories than Gore in 2000, let the Bushies use the war scare to steal the 2002 elections and drive all other issues to the back pages, let the Bushies cover up the energy scandals, Enron, Halliburton, Saudis and Bin Lauden connections, censored investigations into Bush's past, the Florida voter roll purges of 2000, hammered Kerry at various times on trivia, mentioned Drudge's 100% phony sex scandal story, dropped the Bush AWOL story even though the records he produced proved nothing and so forth. The rightwing enjoys a huge advantage on the radio and it has nothing to do with ratings. They also have the entire Post newspapers, Wash Times and Fox News working for them. The only media mogul to actually endorse a candidate is Rupert Murdoch who seems to have Michael Powell at the FCC in his pocket despite 90% public outcry against monopolization. Supposedly "liberal" pubs like the Boston Globe, Wash Post and NY Times have run harsh investigative articles against Kerry delving into trivia in his past such as "did he ever say he was Irish or not, and is he?" and "Did he say ribbons or medals and whose were they?" With "friends" like the "liberal" media the democrats don't need enemies. Hopefully this rightwing takeover of the media will reverse itself quickly.
