I'm beginning to think that Chalabi's milita picked Berg up to trade for people kidnapped by Sadr. They were under the mistaken idea that Berg was helping Sadr as a peace activist. When they found he had no trade-in value and could identify them .... he had to go. The Zukari charade was an after thought, after he was dead. Chalabi was probably watching CSPAN and figuring out a distraction.
