With all the money moving from the U.S. to Canada for energy, and with Canada being one vast reservoir of natural resources, I don't see how the $C can help but rise. Unless for some reason China shuts down.

Here's the prospectus for Energy Split:

scotiamanagedcompanies.com

Notice that it will cease to exist in September 2006, so it is really a short term, leveraged speculation on the Canadian energy trusts.

I have, however, increased my holdings by 50% in the last week because of:

1. Current 18% tax advantaged yield, and possibility of higher yield with rising energy prices

2. Possibility of continuing rise of Canadian dollar against USD

3. Possibility of leveraged long term capital gain if the stock prices of the underlying companies increase.

I wish the "winding up" date were further in the future, but I still think this is the best way I know to bet on energy prices if you think they are headed on up.
