In regard to "last resort":

We could have waited until Hitler had directly attacked the United States, after gaining European hegemony, before going to war with him. Does anyone think that would have been a good idea? We could have let the attack on Pearl Harbor pass, and waited until the Japanese controlled the Pacific before reacting. Does any think that would have caused less harm, or more harm to all concerned?

We should have stopped Hitler when he remilitarized the Rhineland. We should have stopped the Japanese in Manchuria. The failure of the great powers to act swiftly to stop major expansionist powers merely led to more suffering when things finally came to a head........

In my opinion, words and politics did not work and unless something was done Saddam would have his nukes and WMD's and the time to implement a 'last resort' would have passed.

So Saddam had nukes and WMD's??? Why didn't you say so! WHy didn't the president and his cabinet say so??

Oh, that's right, they did.

But they were lying. Because this invasion had nothing to do with fighting terrorism or protecting our homeland.

It's amazing how the original rationale (which has been proven wrong by both the UN and Bush's own inspectors) is still being talked about as why war was a last resort.

Unless you were just trying to be funny like those other guys.
